Let’s get ready, Lawrence.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup tournament is coming to the United States, Canada and Mexico in the summer of 2026. The first time ever hosted by three countries, this year’s tournament is the biggest ever. Forty-eight countries will compete in 104 matches between June 11 (Mexico City) and July 19 (New York/New Jersey).

Lawrence 2026 is your resource site for World Cup information for Lawrence and Douglas County residents, casual fans and ultras.

Helpful Information

  • Sixteen cities are hosting matches, 10 within the U.S. Kansas City is the smallest of the host cities, but with the biggest heart and the most central location. The surrounding area, including Lawrence, is sure to be on the international stage.

    Click for the match schedule.

  • Match tickets have already gone on sale. The chance to enter a draw for tickets has closed, but more tickets will become available after teams are put into groups during the draw on Dec. 5.

Last-minute tickets will become available on a first-come, first-served basis as the dates get closer.

Please consult FIFA’s ticket site for travel visa requirements or resale/exchange information. There are still some hospitality packages for sale.

  • GEHA Arrowhead Stadium will assume the moniker Kansas City Stadium for the duration of the tournament.

There will be six games played there, four group matches, one round of 32, and a quarterfinal match.

    • Group Stage: Tuesday, June 16

    • Group Stage: Saturday, June 20

    • Group Stage: Thursday, June 25

    • Group Stage: Saturday, June 27

    • Round of 32: Friday, July 3

    • Quarterfinal: Saturday, July 11

The Dec. 5 draw will put the groups together, and at that point, we’ll have an idea of which teams will be coming to Kansas City Stadium. That does not mean we will know if a team is coming to base camp in Lawrence. That won’t be determined until January 2026.

Do not plan on tailgating at Kansas City Stadium. The stadium as we know it will be surrounded with an international security perimeter and an international press perimeter.

Tickets holders to Kansas City matches will be screened before they board buses to the stadium and shuttled out after the match.

  • A base camp training site is a team’s home away from home while they are competing in the tournament. Lawrence is in the running to be chosen as a team’s site.

While it depends on the team, a team generally travels with players, coaches, training staff, dietitians, public relations and family members. Some fans will choose to stay where the team is staying, although access to the team is extremely limited. If a team does come to Lawrence, they will be staying at the Oread Hotel, and practicing out at Rock Chalk Park.

Just because a team is based here, does not necessarily mean they are playing at Kansas City Stadium. A team might be located here, but play out of Boston, Miami or any other site.

We expect we will see a team in early June, and they will probably be here until early July if they have not maintained a standing to keep moving them forward in the tournament.

Once the draw is completed after Dec. 5, teams will submit their top five desired locations to FIFA, which will assign them to a base camp site.

We should know if Lawrence will be serving as a team site by the end of January 2026.

  • Lawrence 2026 will be recruiting, placing and training volunteers to help with the work needed to ensure Lawrence is prepared, welcoming and safe for both international and domestic visitors. Sign up to volunteer.
